Job summary

DARA PEOPLE LTD. is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer for mission-critical data centre projects in Singapore.

The role focuses on technical ownership of mechanical design and assurance across the project lifecycle, with emphasis on cooling, infrastructure and high-reliability environments. Direct data-centre experience is preferred but not essential; strong candidates from semiconductor, pharmaceutical and advanced manufacturing are also considered.

Qualifications

Lead Mechanical Engineer - Mission Critical / Data Centres

Location: Singapore - fully on-site

Employment: Permanent

Salary: Competitive / dependent on experience

Take technical ownership of mechanical design and engineering assurance across major mission-critical projects in Singapore, working on complex cooling, mechanical infrastructure and high-reliability environments.

Direct data-centre experience is preferred but not essential. We are also interested in strong mechanical engineers from semiconductor, pharmaceutical, advanced manufacturing and other high-reliability environments.

This is an owner-side technical engineering role rather than a pure project-management position. You will be expected to interrogate designs, challenge engineering decisions, resolve technical issues and provide clear mechanical engineering direction to consultants, contractors and vendors.

About the role

You will lead the technical review and assurance of mechanical systems throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with design consultants, contractors, vendors and programme leadership.

The role combines detailed engineering input, design coordination, technical assurance and system optimisation. You will have genuine influence over mechanical design decisions, engineering standards and technical delivery rather than simply reviewing consultant submissions.

• Develop and maintain mechanical engineering standards, specifications and design guidelines.


• Lead mechanical QA/QC and multidisciplinary design reviews.


• Resolve technical and coordination issues with consultants, contractors and vendors.


• Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency, buildability, cost, delivery and long-term performance.


• Support construction, commissioning, defect resolution, handover and project close-out.


• Provide clear technical direction during design and coordination meetings.


• Act as the key mechanical engineering interface between client teams and delivery partners.

Requirements

• Strong mechanical engineering experience designing, reviewing or assuring HVAC, cooling and associated mechanical infrastructure within complex or high-reliability facilities.


• Proven experience in design development, detailed design review, technical assurance or engineering leadership.


• Strong understanding of cooling and mechanical infrastructure used in high-reliability environments, such as data centres, semiconductor facilities, pharmaceutical facilities or advanced manufacturing.


• Ability to interrogate designs, identify technical risks and communicate practical solutions.


• Experience coordinating consultants, contractors and vendors across multidisciplinary projects.


• Experience working across design, construction, operational readiness and project close-out stages.


• Strong written reporting, stakeholder-management and technical communication skills.


• Comfortable working fully on-site in Singapore.
