Job description

Job Scope

1. Equipment Handling & Technical Expertise

  • Handle the complete engineering life cycle for a variety of rotating and mechanical equipment including:
  • High-capacity centrifugal pumps (moderate pressure) for raw and treated water
  • Positive displacement dosing pumps for alum and caustic (NaOH)
  • Submersible pumps including slurry-handling spiral impeller types and standard pit pumps
  • Air compressors and mixers
  • EOT cranes, jib cranes, and latching systems
  • Ensure adherence to PUB and consultant specifications during equipment selection and integration.

2. Procurement Engineering & Vendor Coordination

  • Prepare tender technical packages in alignment with client-issued specifications.
  • Conduct technical evaluation and compliance checks for vendor bids.
  • Recommend technically compliant and optimized vendor selection to the consultant for approval.
  • Coordinate with the procurement/commercial team for PO/contract finalization.
  • Review vendor documents and drawings and secure consultant approval.

3. Design & Interdisciplinary Coordination

  • Coordinate with civil, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines for:
  • Foundation loads, layouts, and structural requirements
  • Electrical loads, motor sizing, and control philosophy
  • Integration with control systems including interlocks and signals
  • Finalize equipment layout ensuring clash-free installation and maintenance accessibility.

4. Construction & Commissioning Support

  • Provide technical support to the site team during installation and alignment.
  • Assist in pre-commissioning, commissioning, and plant proving.
  • Facilitate troubleshooting and punch list clearance related to rotating equipment.

5. Documentation & Project Close-out

  • Ensure submission and approval of as-built documentation.
  • Prepare and hand over training materials and O&M manuals for end users.
  • Support final handover documentation as per project requirements.

6. Change Management

  • Identify and document design changes and variations.Evaluate claims from vendors and installation contractors for rotating equipment scope.
  • • Liaise with the contracts team to support cost control and variation orders.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng/BTech/MEng)
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in mechanical/rotating equipment engineering
  • Proven experience in water treatment plants, preferably PUB or similar regulated environments
  • Hands-on knowledge in pump and compressor systems, mechanical drives, and crane systems
  • Familiar with local codes, PUB specifications, and international standards (ISO, ASME, etc.)
  • Experience in coordinating with consultants and interdisciplinary teams
  • Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD/Plant 3D, and document control systems
