Job description

Working Location: Jurong Island

Company Transport: Pick up from Jurong East MRT

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects from basic and detailed engineering through to commissioning and final completion, ensuring delivery within schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
  • Review project requirements, contractor specifications, and technical drawings in close coordination with the project team.
  • Develop and execute project execution plans, including resource allocation, scheduling, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Act as the on-site engineering liaison between contractors and internal teams, ensuring effective oversight of construction activities, site safety, supervision, and permit-to-work processes.
  • Resolve technical challenges encountered during construction, ensuring formal resolution of major issues in collaboration with contractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates and reporting to the Project Manager while coordinating closely with engineers across multiple disciplines to ensure seamless project integration.
  • Ensure all engineering activities are carried out in compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and assess variation orders, making well-supported recommendations for resolution.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional project teams, including engineers, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure alignment across project phases and functions.
  • Conduct vendor workshops, site visits, and inspections to monitor project progress and proactively address potential issues.
  • Prepare and review project documentation, including progress reports, technical documentation, and budget tracking.
  • Identify and manage project risks, developing contingency plans to mitigate delays or cost overruns.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration within the project team and with external stakeholders.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a project engineering role.
  • Experience within the mechanical engineering discipline of EPC projects in a chemical process plant environment will be an added advantage.
  • Proven track record in managing projects through all phases—detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, start-up, and final handover.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and industry codes/standards such as ASME, API, TEMA, and local (Singapore Standards) and international engineering practices.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in project management tools such as Microsoft Project or equivalent software.
  • Strong digital literacy, including the ability to collect, analyze, and present data using tools like Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Power BI, and SQL.
  • Willing to work beyond regular hours when required.
  • Open to long-term overseas assignments based on project needs.
