Job summary

BYJ RECRUITMENT PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced mechanical drafter to create detailed 2D workshop drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

The role requires applying GD&T, finishes, and material specs, and preparing complete drawing sets with BOMs for production. You will redraw and upgrade legacy drawings, conduct self-checks for accuracy and clearance, and update files with workshop feedback.

Qualifications

• 3+ years mechanical drafting experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and finishes.
• Ability to update drawings and maintain version control.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D workshop drawings for mechanical parts, jigs, fixtures and assemblies using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Apply GD&T, surface finish and material specifications for machining needs.
• Prepare full sets of drawings including single part, assembly and exploded views.
• Generate accurate BOMs and part lists for production and procurement.
• Redraw and upgrade old drawings to current CAD standards.
• Self-check drawings for dimension errors and fitting clearance before release.
• Revise drawings based on workshop feedback and production changes.
• Maintain version control and documentation of all drawing files.
• Provide technical support to machinists for drawing interpretation.

Job description

Key Job Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D workshop drawings and 3D solid models for mechanical parts, jigs, fixtures and machine assemblies using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Apply correct dimensioning, tolerance, geometric dimensioning & tolerance (GD&T), surface finish and material grades for machining requirements.
• Prepare full set of manufacturing drawings: single part drawings, assembly drawings and exploded views.
• Generate accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) and part lists for production and purchasing.
• Redraw, update and upgrade old drawings, hand sketches and physical sample parts into standard CAD files.
• Conduct self-check on drawings for dimension errors, interference, fitting clearance and machining feasibility before release.
• Revise drawings according to workshop feedback, technical changes and production requirements.
• Maintain proper version control, filing and documentation of all drawing files.
• Provide technical support to machinists and programmers for drawing interpretation and machining clarification.

Job Requirements

• Experienced in AutoCAD 2D and SolidWorks 3D mechanical modelling.
• Able to read technical engineering drawings, understand tolerance, surface finish and machining standards.
• Basic knowledge of CNC turning, milling and common metal materials (mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass).
• Able to work independently to complete drafting, BOM creation and drawing revision.
• Strong attention to detail, able to detect drawing errors and avoid production mistakes.
• Minimum 3 years mechanical drafting working experience.
• Able to understand basic English technical notes on engineering drawings.
• Hardworking, responsible, able to follow instructions and work overtime when required.
