Job description

Position Summary

  • Follow work schedule given by supervisor.
  • Organise and plan required tools, manpower and equipment before commencement of work.
  • Ensure jobs are done safely without any accidents occurring.
  • Complete works within the given schedule & within allocated budget
  • Perform & Maintain highest quality as per work instruction.
  • Performed team works and maintain good communication with other trades

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Complete given jobs within the assigned timeframe, which ensures productivity and cost-effectiveness is maintained.
  • Able to follow instructions given by supervisor.
  • Able to work together and lead the Team
  • Carry out risk assessment briefing before commencement of work and make sure tradesmen adheres to the safe work procedures.
  • Organise required tools and equipment in advance before starting work.
  • Assist supervisors in preparing and requesting all permits to work in accordance with yard’s safety procedures.
  • Assist supervisors in managing manpower for given jobs.
  • Have a good understanding of all jobs assigned by supervisors.
  • Monitor & report progress of the job attentively.
  • Maintain good safety practices within the group.
  • Coordinate with other trades for sequential workflow for smooth job transition.
  • When encountering a problem that affects the workflow, discuss with supervisor immediately on how to overcome the problem.
  • Contribute constructing ideas on how to overcome problems faced to ensure productivity and efficiency is maintained.
  • Ensure safety, discipline and welfare of subordinates are taken care of.
  • Assist supervisor to commission, test and troubleshoot new and existing ship system as per class and owner’s requirements.
  • When solutions are given to overcome problems faced during work, strictly comply to ensure no unnecessary risks or problems arises.

  • 3 years and above of relevant experience in ship building & Ship repair industry
  • Able to understand technical drawings
  • Must have good knowledge on Marine Machinery /system works
  • Self-initiative and highly motivated able to work with high stress environment
  • Possesses good leadership skills to lead and supervise persons under their charge.
  • Able to speak and write in proper English fluently.
