About the role

Join the team at James Walker Asia Pacific Pte Ltd as a Mechanical Engineering Technician. This full-time role is based in the West Coast West Region and offers the opportunity to apply your technical expertise to support the company's mechanical engineering projects.

What you'll be doing

  • To assist and train Internal Sales Representatives in the interpretation of customers’ requirements, and in the selection of the most appropriate product to satisfy these requirements.
  • To ensure that where there is a choice of suitable technical solutions, products, or route to manufacture, the most appropriate solution balancing operational and commercial aspects for the particular circumstances are selected.
  • To clearly understand when more detailed technical support is required, and to seek assistance from the most appropriate “Technically Competent” member of the MBU’s technical teams to resolve the query.
  • To ensure that any systems and processes associated with the role comply with both Company policy and relevant legislation.
  • To make product and material selection recommendations based upon Published Literature Knowledge and experience gained and through targeted product training.
  • To give, and where necessary, seek advice on manufacture capability.
  • To recognize and interpret International, National, Customer and Company specifications.
  • To provide guidance such that Customer Support Centre colleagues understand and observe all applicable Company technical, quality product liability policies, rules and procedures, and to set a good personal example in their observance.
  • To provide site support at customer premises for the identification of parts and Installations.
  • To create drawings of gaskets to allow creation of parts and manufacture thereof.
  • Carry out routine inspection activities, including dimensional, material identification and preparation of data for certification.

Facilitate and support customer product concern investigation.

What we're looking for

  • Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technician or in a similar role
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, tools and techniques
  • Proficient in using AutoCAD/Inventor software and other engineering design tools
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards
  • Working in or with downstream oil and gas industry (eg refineries)
