Position: Mechanical Engineer – Rotating
Responsible for working as a key member of the design team on assigned projects, reporting to the Department Manager. The role involves undertaking mechanical engineering design work with a focus on safety, sustainability, cost minimization, and technical integrity.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing design work within estimated man-hours and schedules.
- Providing technical assistance to other design groups and ensuring effective communication.
- Adhering to ethical standards and confidentiality.
- Identifying and suggesting corrective actions for non-conformities in quality assurance.
- Maintaining proper filing of contract documents and correspondence.
- Seeking value-added opportunities.
Specific accountabilities:
- Defining mechanical work scope for rotating equipment based on experience.
- Understanding and applying relevant international codes, standards, and local regulations.
- Producing equipment lists and contributing to weight control reports.
- Preparing specifications and data sheets for various rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, and fire water pumps.
- Managing RFQs, technical bid evaluations, and vendor data reviews.
- Acting as the overall package engineer, coordinating inputs from various disciplines.
- Developing inspection, testing, FAT, and SAT procedures.
- Conducting driver selection studies if necessary.
- Monitoring work progress, budgets, and schedules, and managing change documentation.
- Ensuring documentation compliance and quality standards.
- Supervising technical detail, budget, and schedule of mechanical design when requested.
- Liaising professionally with clients, vendors, and external parties.
- Planning man-hour budgets and schedules, and liaising on technical issues with clients.
- Ensuring adherence to quality assurance and safety procedures.
Knowledge, experience, and competencies required:
- Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical packages for offshore oil & gas projects, specifically FEED and detailed engineering of FPSO topsides modules.
- Good knowledge of relevant codes and standards, especially API recommended practices and ASME pressure vessel codes.
