Mechanical Engineer, Data Center #catalystWSP
Singtel and the Singapore Institute of Technology have launched a Work-Study Programme (WSP) called “The Catalyst Programme” in Feb 2023. This structured on-the-job (OJT) development programme allows Polytechnic Diploma holders to secure a full-time position with Singtel while pursuing a university honours degree in BEng Infrastructure and Systems Engineering. The programme is open to Singtel’s internal employees as well as external polytechnic diploma holders, preferably from the Engineering domain. Candidates will be offered a specific role as outlined below. Are you ready for this challenge?
Make an Impact by
- Reviewing mechanical project design, contract documentation, contractor submissions, procurement documents, tender packages, show drawings, RFIs, etc., in accordance with Singapore Standards, Singtel, and other authorities’ requirements.
- Participating in project review meetings, site visits, design discussions, and other relevant meetings.
- Assisting the project manager in managing, planning, coordinating, and liaising with internal stakeholders, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers involved in engineering, operations, testing, and commissioning.
- Checking mechanical and building facilities for equipment/system improvements, cyclical replacement of ageing or end-of-life/support equipment to ensure operational readiness of building services.
- Communicating effectively with stakeholders and recommending system improvements, assisting in implementing relevant plans with building facilities managers.
- Supporting contract management activities, including sourcing bids, calling tenders, evaluating quotations, negotiating, drafting, preparing adjudication papers, and managing contracts and payments for mechanical services.
- Leading and managing technical consultancy assignments, ensuring quality and timely delivery of recommendations.
- Understanding basic architectural design requirements, applicable codes, and development/construction due diligence reporting.
- Managing stakeholders and external parties, organizing and managing multiple projects, controlling costs, reviewing, and analyzing project data.
- Following up on project implementation and completion, liaising with stakeholders, and managing preconstruction, construction, commissioning, and project closeout phases, while establishing project controls to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
