Burns & McDonnell India is looking for an experienced Piping Designer interested in growing their careers in an organization listed among the top 100 Great Places to Work in India. The Global Facilities (GFS) business unit handles engineering of facilities in the North America region, including food & beverage facilities, consumer product facilities, aerospace facilities, life sciences facilities, hyper-scale datacenters, commercial facilities, healthcare facilities, and utility plants. The Mumbai office has a full complement of professionals with expertise in architecture, civil, electrical, control & automation, fire protection, mechanical, structural engineering, and project management.

The successful candidate will report to the Life Science Section Manager and be involved in designing piping systems, including process and utility sections, on various life sciences projects such as biotech, pharmaceutical, and medical device manufacturing facilities.

Job Duties
  1. Design process and utility piping systems from conceptual phase through detailed design completion, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and codes.
  2. Lead piping design activities including layout, supporting, pipe rack design, piping specials, equipment & pipe component modeling, and preparation of deliverables like general arrangement drawings, piping layouts, support standards, spool drawings, and Material Take Off (MTO) in a 3D environment.
  3. Review piping design documents and 3D models, perform clash checks, and resolve issues.
  4. Provide technical and design guidance to project team members.
  5. Adhere to QA/QC procedures and safety policies.
  6. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines effectively.
  7. Communicate regularly with clients and external personnel.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or ITI/NCTVT Mechanical Draftsman from a reputed institute.
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience using 3D design tools (Plant 3D, Revit); consulting experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of piping engineering principles and standards such as ASME BPE, B16.1, B31.3.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD tools including AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, BIM.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to take increased responsibilities and work closely with discipline lead engineers.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
