Position Summary
You’ll lead the mechanical design and development of automated manufacturing equipment—from initial proof-of-concept through detailed design, validation, and commissioning. This role is for someone pragmatic and hands-on, with a passion for automating precision manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical systems for automated production equipment, including frames, motion axes, fixtures, and gantry or robotic integrations.
- Produce 3D CAD models and detailed drawings (SolidWorks or Unigraphics), adhering to design-for-manufacturability and precision engineering principles.
- Collaborate with electrical, controls, and software teams to integrate sensors, and control systems.
- Select and qualify components, interface with suppliers for custom parts, and support procurement.
- Oversee build, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting with project teams.
- Contribute to standardization of mechanical design processes, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related.
- 3–8 years’ experience in mechanical design for automated equipment, custom machinery, or manufacturing systems—especially for OEMs.
- Proficient in 3D CAD workflows.
- Solid knowledge of mechanical motion systems (linear, rotational), pneumatics, material handling, kinematics.
- Practical, problem-solving mindset and readiness for field involvement.
- Strong cross-disciplinary communication skills.
- Exposure to precision engineering, ETO manufacturing, or test & tooling equipment preferred.
