Job summary

A leading company specializing in high precision customized automation and semiconductor equipment is seeking a talented designer to spearhead conceptual and detailed design projects. The ideal candidate will have strong CAD capabilities, a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, and experience with DFM and DFA principles. You will be responsible for producing high-quality design documentation while collaborating with manufacturing teams to ensure feasibility and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Min Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering.
  • At least 3-5 years in designing industrial automation equipment.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD, preferably Autodesk Inventor.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for conceptual and detailed design for customized automation equipment.
  • Perform tolerance stack-up and various analyses on design parameters.
  • Hands-on prototype assembly and testing, including troubleshooting.

Job description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To apply proper feasibility studies, drive design specifications, and provide support for the design proposal.
  2. Responsible for conceptual and detailed design for high precision customised automation/ semiconductor equipment.
  3. Generation of detailed 3D/2D CAD drawing with Autodesk Inventor or equivalent.
  4. Generation and release of a full set of design documentation.
  5. Perform tolerance stack-up and various analyses on critical design parameters on the quality of the development project.
  6. Working closely with the manufacturing team on DFM, generating assembly processes and qualification procedures including documentation.
  7. Hands-on prototype assembly, testing, and qualification inclusive of troubleshooting.
  8. Collaborate with other teams to ensure the project timeline and budget adheres to and all design requirements are specified and delivered.
  9. To source, evaluate, and procure all mechanical and process components.
  10. Participate in the implementation of development documentation control and database system.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Min Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least >3 years / >5 years in designing industrial automation equipment, product assembly, and test fixtures.
  • Familiar with components sizing of pneumatics and motion components such as servo motors and mechanical drive components.
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
  • Good knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Must be proficient in 3D cad preferably Autodesk Inventor.
  • Experience in several of these areas is added advantages such as precision motion systems, Opto-mechanical systems.
  • Committed and self-motivated, a life learner and a good team player, able to work with minimum supervision in a dynamic environment.
