We are partnering with a global energy company to identify a senior leader in their Singapore office. This is a general management position covering commercial, risk, corporate governance, and people development for over 60 employees across multiple countries. Your direct and indirect reports include oil trading book leaders (crude, middle distillates, lightends) and middle/back office department heads.
- Directly responsible for the business unit’s P&L, executing strategic plans, and ensuring operational efficiency through performance metrics and cost control.
- Supervises trading activities within approved risk limits, oversees derivatives and hedging strategies, and ensures full compliance with trading mandates and risk policies.
- Leads Singapore office operations and coordinates cross-functional teams to ensure seamless collaboration and resource allocation across departments.
- Ensures adherence to international trade regulations, manages corporate governance, supports audits, and oversees compliance with trade sanctions and statutory obligations.
- Leads a cross-functional team, drives performance and talent development, and fosters a results-oriented, high-performance culture.
- Drives new business initiatives, builds key relationships, and supports market expansion.
- Participation in board-level discussions, ensures alignment with corporate policies, and maintaining fiduciary responsibility.
You should come with a minimum of 20 years’ experience in the oil trading industry, and possess the following experience:
- A minimum of 8+ years in senior leadership. Prior experience as a company director is advantageous.
- Exhibits strong communication, negotiation, and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering under pressure.
- Known for high integrity, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a drive for continuous improvement. Culturally aware and effective in diverse, international settings.
- Has a proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams, manage cross-functional collaboration, and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
- Balances strategic vision with hands-on operational execution, effectively managing complex reporting lines and competing priorities. Experienced in driving change and aligning local operations with global directives.
