Job description

BLOCK71 Singapore is preparing for the next phase of growth. We've incubated 10 unicorns, along with hundreds of other startups since our inception in 2011. As we look into a new era, we are redefining the ways BLOCK71 Singapore supports and interacts with founders and the startup ecosystem at large.

To support this transformation, we are looking to onboard a Marketing Manager to help enhance BLOCK71 Singapore's brand reputation at all levels: globally, domestically, and within the startup community. This person should have a solid operational understanding of marketing campaigns, be creative, have a passion for supporting founders, and most importantly, dare to push boundaries in a structured organisation.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Brand Management: Interpret the central brand guide and develop localised applications across organic and paid channels. This includes a solid understanding of media planning and performance analysis to optimise results.
  2. Content Creation: Develop content tailored to each platform's unique traits. For example, a LinkedIn post should 'feel' different from a newsletter; a press release should differ from a message blast to our founders community. Sensitivity to media consumption patterns and adaptability are key.
  3. Market Research: Stay updated with the latest developments in the startup world and advise Product, Community, and Programmes teams on structuring their output to meet customer demands effectively.
  4. Event Planning: Support community managers with communication plans to drive registration and participation for events such as demo days and workshops.
  5. Partnership Collaboration: Co-create marketing initiatives with ecosystem partners to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  6. Budget Management: Manage the marketing budget effectively, ensuring optimal resource allocation to meet marketing objectives.
Requirements

The role is best suited for an outgoing personality who enjoys interacting with people, especially startups and entrepreneurs. The ideal candidate writes well, is familiar with different communication channels, has wide interests, and possesses high energy levels. They are constantly seeking new ideas and excited about experimenting and learning.

They function well in a fast-paced environment where change is constant, quickly grasp business needs, and adapt marketing activities accordingly. A team player who enjoys creating and executing innovative marketing and communication campaigns to build a strong brand and community is essential. Additionally, understanding that marketing extends beyond communications to include advocating for a seat at the product development table is important.

Technical Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of marketing experience, preferably in startups or the startup ecosystem.
  • Proven experience in event planning and community development.
  • Strong business acumen and a solid understanding of Singapore's startup development landscape.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
  • Expertise in optimising online and offline marketing channels.
