BLOCK71 Singapore is preparing for its next phase of growth. Since our inception in 2011, we have incubated 10 unicorns and hundreds of other startups. As we enter a new era, we are redefining how BLOCK71 Singapore supports and interacts with founders and the broader startup ecosystem.

To support this transformation, we are looking to onboard a Marketing Manager to enhance BLOCK71 Singapore's brand reputation globally, domestically, and within the startup community. The ideal candidate should have a solid operational understanding of marketing campaigns, be creative, passionate about supporting founders, and willing to push boundaries within a structured organization.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Brand Management: Interpret the central brand guide and develop localized applications across organic and paid channels. This requires a strong understanding of media planning and performance analysis to optimize results.
  • Content Creation: Develop platform-specific content, understanding the unique traits of each media channel. For example, LinkedIn posts should differ from newsletters, and press releases from message blasts. Sensitivity to media consumption patterns and adaptability are essential.
  • Market Research: Stay updated on startup industry developments and advise Product, Community, and Programmes teams on structuring their output to meet customer demands effectively.
  • Event Planning: Support community managers with communication plans to drive registration and participation in events such as demo days and workshops.
  • Partnership Collaboration: Co-create marketing initiatives with ecosystem partners to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Budget Management: Manage the marketing budget efficiently, ensuring optimal resource allocation to meet marketing objectives.
Requirements

This role suits an outgoing individual who enjoys interacting with startups and entrepreneurs. The candidate should be a good writer, familiar with various communication channels, and possess broad interests and high energy levels. A proactive approach to new ideas, experimentation, and learning is crucial.

The candidate must thrive in a fast-paced environment with constant change, quickly understanding business needs and adapting marketing activities accordingly. A team player who enjoys creating and executing innovative marketing campaigns to build a strong brand and community is preferred. Additionally, understanding that marketing extends beyond communications to include advocacy for a seat at the product development table is important.

Technical Competencies
  • Degree with a minimum of 5 years of marketing experience, preferably within startups or the startup ecosystem.
  • Proven experience in event planning and community development.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of Singapore's startup landscape.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
  • Expertise in optimizing online and offline marketing channels.
