Job summary

HSL CONSTRUCTOR PTE LTD in Singapore seeks a Marine Construction Supervisor to plan, coordinate and supervise complex marine works in line with drawings, specs, method statements and schedules.

You will review technical drawings and specs, coordinate with project managers, consultants and subcontractors, and monitor daily site activities to ensure safety, quality and timely completion. The role requires strong communication and problem-solving in a dynamic marine environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural or Marine Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant construction experience.
  • Experience in marine or water-related projects is advantageous.
  • Able to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and method statements.
  • Familiar with construction methods, site coordination, progress monitoring, quality and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and supervise marine construction activities to ensure works follow drawings, specs, method statements and schedules.
  • Manage marine works such as dredging, reclamation, piling, jetty and breakwater projects.
  • Review drawings, specs and method statements prior to work start.
  • Coordinate with PMs, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and authorities on technical and site matters.
  • Prepare and review work programmes, sequences and risk assessments.
  • Monitor daily site activities, manpower, equipment and subcontractor performance for safety and efficiency.
  • Coordinate deployment and operation of marine equipment and resources.
  • Identify and resolve technical and site coordination issues.
  • Prepare progress reports and ensure compliance with ITPs and safety rules.
  • Assist in quantity verification, material planning and procurement for marine works.

Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise marine construction activities to ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, project requirements and schedule.
  • Manage and monitor marine works such as dredging, reclamation, piling, jetty or wharf construction, revetment, seawall, breakwater and other marine or coastal infrastructure works, where applicable.
  • Review construction drawings, technical specifications, method statements and other project documents prior to commencement of works.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Consultants, Engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and relevant authorities on technical and site matters.
  • Prepare and review work programmes, construction sequences, method statements, risk assessments and other technical submissions related to marine works.
  • Monitor daily site activities, manpower, equipment, materials and subcontractor performance to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and within schedule.
  • Coordinate the deployment and operation of marine equipment, vessels, barges, cranes and other construction resources required for project execution.
  • Identify and resolve technical, construction and site coordination issues arising during project execution.
  • Monitor project progress and prepare daily, weekly and monthly progress reports as required.
  • Ensure marine construction activities comply with project quality requirements, approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and relevant standards.
  • Work closely with the Safety team to ensure all marine activities comply with workplace safety requirements, marine safety procedures and project-specific safety controls.
  • Coordinate inspections with consultants, clients and relevant parties and ensure necessary approvals are obtained before proceeding with subsequent works.
  • Assist in quantity verification, material planning, procurement requirements and subcontractor coordination for marine construction activities.
  • Support tendering and pre-construction activities by reviewing technical requirements, construction methodology, resource requirements and project constraints when required.
  • Attend project, technical, coordination and progress meetings with clients, consultants, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of project documentation, drawings, records, inspection reports and as-built information.
  • Assist in project testing, commissioning, handover and close-out activities upon completion of marine works.
Requirements
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Marine Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant construction experience.
  • Experience in marine or water-related construction projects will be an advantage.
  • Able to read and interpret construction drawings, technical specifications and method statements.
  • Familiar with construction methods, site coordination, progress monitoring, quality and safety requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD.
  • Good communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a project team.
  • Willing to work in site and marine environments when required.
  • Meticulous, responsible and able to work under project deadlines.
