Job summary

SBM Group is seeking an engineering professional to provide technical support for marine vessels, shipboard systems, and shipyard projects. The role covers installation, maintenance, testing, commissioning, and coordination of repair and maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with drawings and safety standards.

The candidate should hold a Diploma or Bachelor’s in Engineering and have marine/shipyard exposure.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline is required.
• Experience in a marine, shipyard, ship repair, offshore, or engineering environment is preferred.
• Able to work in a shipyard environment, including onboard vessels and at heights or confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and technical support for marine vessels, shipboard systems, and shipyard projects, including electrical systems, structural works, engineering, and planning activities.
• Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, integration, testing, and commissioning of shipboard electrical and mechanical systems.
• Support work involving engines, propulsion systems, generators, switchboards, control systems, navigation systems, and other onboard equipment.
• Coordinate and support ship repair, upgrading, modification, and maintenance activities in accordance with project requirements and vessel specifications.
• Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, class requirements, statutory regulations, and shipyard safety standards.
• Liaise with shipyard teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and vessel representatives to support the smooth execution of engineering and maintenance works. Assist in inspections, testing, commissioning, and rectification of defects during ship repair and maintenance projects.
• Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned.
