Job description

We are partnering with a well-regarded maritime organisation to find a Marine Superintendent with experience in product tankers. The role focuses on ensuring vessels operate safely, efficiently, and in line with all regulatory and environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operational readiness and voyage performance of assigned vessels.
  • Promote and maintain full compliance with all health, safety, security, and environmental requirements.
  • Coordinate mandatory vessel audits and inspections with recognised bodies and relevant authorities.
  • Manage quality inspections from oil companies and ensure accurate submissions to required industry online platforms.
  • Review and approve voyage routes and conduct onboard reviews of navigational practices when needed.
  • Ensure vessels meet all regulatory, port, terminal, operator, and charterer requirements.
  • Liaise with national maritime administrations, port authorities, and classification bodies on compliance matters.
  • Maintain and update the company’s documented safety and operational management system to reflect current regulations.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to vessel crews on safety, performance, and procedures.
  • Participate as a member of the organisation’s emergency response team.
  • Undertake additional operational projects and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
  • Holder of a Master Mariner certificate (highest class preferred), or at least two years of shore-based experience focused on safety, environmental compliance, and operational oversight for tankers.
  • Previous sailing experience on product tankers or chemical tankers is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations covering safety, security, environmental protection, and crew standards.
  • Familiarity with oil company inspection processes and tanker industry operational expectations.
  • Proven leadership abilities and excellent communication skills.
