Qualifications

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in electrical systems onboard vessels.
  • Perform testing and calibration of gas detectors in the workshop.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive service reports.

Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in electrical systems and components onboard vessels.
  • Perform testing and calibration of gas detectors in the workshop.
  • Supervise external contractors when required.
  • Support ship crew and Superintendent in identifying and ordering appropriate spare parts.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive service reports upon completion of work.

Requirements:

  • Minimum qualification: Higher Nitec or Diploma in Electrical or Mechatronics.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Solid understanding of marine electrical systems, including:
  1. Engine control and alarm systems
  2. Fire detection and alarm systems
  3. CO2 and water mist fire suppression systems
  4. Oily Water Separator (OWS) and Oil Discharge Monitoring Equipment (ODME)
  5. Ballast Water Management Systems
  6. Cargo monitoring systems
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Marine Service Engineer.
  • Willingness to work on short notice, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Capable of working onboard ships at anchorage or in shipyards.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing work environments.
  • Strong eagerness to learn and upskill with new systems, products, and procedures.
  • Demonstrates strong work ethics and responsibility.
  • Able to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Confident in interacting with ship crew and handling onboard situations.
