Job description

Job Summary:
The Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing fire protection systems for marine vessels and offshore structures. This includes creating firefighting layouts, selecting equipment, and ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations (SOLAS, IMO, NFPA, etc.).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design firefighting systems (sprinklers, CO₂, foam, water mist, etc.) for ships and offshore platforms.
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and calculations using CAD/3D modeling software.
  • Ensure designs meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborating with shipowners, shipyards, engineers, and clients to integrate firefighting systems into vessel designs requires a structured approach to ensure compliance, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Review and approve vendor proposals, conduct risk assessments, and support system testing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Naval Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in marine firefighting system design or offshore safety engineering.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of classification society rules (DNV, ABS, LR, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment:
Office-based with occasional site visits. Opportunities in shipyards, engineering firms, or offshore companies.
