What you will be working on

The Transport Safety Investigation Bureau of Singapore (TSIB) is the independent authority responsible for safety investigations of air, marine, and rail accidents and incidents. We are looking for motivated Singapore citizens with dedication, diligence, patience, and perseverance to join us. As a Marine Safety Investigator, your responsibilities include:

  1. Conducting marine casualty/incident investigations, including site access (travel required), planning, evidence gathering, witness interviews, and investigation meetings.
  2. Reporting investigation progress, identifying safety issues, determining causal factors, and making safety recommendations.
  3. Writing clear and comprehensive investigation reports.
  4. Operational planning, developing investigation procedures, updating legislation, and conducting training.
  5. Organizing logistics, procuring equipment, researching investigation techniques, and promoting maritime safety.
What we are looking for

Candidates should possess:

  • Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant seagoing experience as a certificated ship officer (e.g., Certificate of Competency Marine Engineer Officer or Deck Officer Class 1).
  • Knowledge of ships, international conventions, codes, Singapore legislation, and safety standards.
  • Experience in marine casualty investigation, marine electronics, or forensic data recovery is advantageous.
  • An inquisitive mind, analytical skills, teamwork, good communication, leadership, and planning abilities.
  • An interest in technical and safety issues beyond their specialty.
