Job summary

Achieve Group, acting for a leading gas carrier operator, seeks a Master Mariner to lead LPG/Ethylene vessel operations from Singapore. The role demands seasoned command experience, hands-on cargo and safety oversight, crew development, and cross-functional collaboration with Class and owners.

The successful candidate will manage navigation, cargo operations, inspections, drills, and third-party contacts while maintaining strict regulatory compliance and on-call availability.

Qualifications

  • Master Mariner Certificate of Competency required.
  • Experience as Master or Chief Officer on LPG/Ethylene/Ethane vessels.
  • Willingness to travel at short notice and maintain 24/7 on-call readiness.
  • Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations and vessel management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee navigation, mooring, deck equipment and safety gear across a group of vessels.
  • Ensure safe cargo operations including loading/discharging and tank preparation.
  • Coordinate with Technical team on drydock planning and execution.
  • Manage third-party inspections (SIRE, CDI, PSC, USCG, Terminal, Flag).
  • Conduct management inspections and internal audits, driving corrective actions.
  • Review vessel reports and ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Liaise with Class, oil majors, ship owners, suppliers to maintain certifications.
  • Review records and documentation for regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and conduct trainings for officers and crew.
  • Lead drills on safety, environment, and security; assess effectiveness.
  • Conduct officer appraisals and investigate incidents when required.

Job description

  • Master Mariner with sailing experience onboard LPG vessels
  • Experienced in handling Ethylene carriers is essential

Our client owns and operates the world's largest fleet of gas carriers providing seaborne services for the transportation of liquefied petroleum gas and petrochemicals. They are looking for seasoned mariner to join their team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operational aspects of a group of vessels covering navigation, mooring, deck equipment, safety equipment, Port arrival / departure & STS operations and general condition.
  • Manage and ensure safe cargo operations of loading / discharging, grade change, tank preparation.
  • Work with the Technical team for Drydock specification, planning and execution.
  • Responsible for the vessel's 3rd party inspections (example: SIRE, CDI, PSC, USCG, Terminal, Flag)
  • Conduct Management Inspections and Internal audits on ships. Identify areas for improvement and verify implementation of the corrective and preventive action.
  • Review and respond to vessel reports Navigational, Safety, Inspections, Internal audits, Near misses, Incidents/Accidents.
  • Liaise with parties such as Class, Oil Majors, Ship Owners, Suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure vessels are certificated in accordance to international regulations.
  • Review vessels record keeping and documentation to comply to international and company’s regulations
  • Prepare and conduct trainings for officers and crew.
  • Conduct safety, environmental and security drills onboard to assess effectiveness.
  • Conduct appraisals of Officers and recommend actions.
  • Conduct investigation of incidents/accidents on board when appointed to do so by the Fleet Managers.
Requirements
  • Holding Master Mariner Certificate of Competency.
  • Sailing experience as a Master or Chief Officer on LPG / Ethylene / Ethane Vessels
  • No shore experience required
  • Ability to travel at short notice and manage 24/7 on call lifestyle.
  • Ability to develop, improve and implement safe, and cost-effective technical vessel management processes.
  • An in-depth knowledge of the rules and regulations governing vessels' management.
  • Committed and responsible in meeting deadlines with excellent time management skills.
  • Independent, outcome driven, organized and resourceful.
  • Strong team orientation and has the ability to manage cross-functional relationships in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
