Job summary
A leading maritime services company in Singapore is looking for a professional to coordinate marine inspections and vetting processes. The ideal candidate will have significant experience at sea and strong understanding of HSSEQ policies. This role involves ensuring compliance, conducting audits, and supporting vessel operations. Candidates with a Chief Officer’s license and extensive seafaring experience are preferred.
Qualifications
- 12–14 years of total seafaring experience.
- At least 5–6 years of sailing experience as Chief Officer on Chemical or LPG tankers.
- Good knowledge of maritime regulations.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate and follow up on Oil Major Vetting Inspections.
- Attend vessels to conduct marine inspections, pre-vetting inspections, and assist with vetting processes.
- Record and track deficiencies found during vessel visits and store records properly.
- Conduct annual navigation audits onboard, preferably during short voyages, and ensure all issues are followed up.
- Assist in investigating accidents and conducting root cause analysis.
- Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
- Coordinate external safety audits and onboard training sessions.
- Oversee vessel cosmetic upgrades (e.g., painting).
- Support vessels on operational matters like loading, discharging, tank cleaning, and grade changes.
- Help implement Health, Safety, Security, Quality & Environmental (HSSEQ) policies, including onboard visits.
- Assist with periodic reviews of the HSSEQ system and suggest improvements.
- Maintain and update the HSSEQ Management System.
- Participate as a member of the internal Marine & HSSEQ audit team.
- Help plan and conduct internal ISM & ISPS audits and follow up on corrective actions.
- Review safety reports from vessels and relevant external sources.
- Support contingency planning for both office and vessels.
- Liaise with vessels on all safety, operational, and compliance matters, including follow-up on monthly reports and near-miss incidents.
Requirements
- 12–14 years of total seafaring experience.
- At least 5–6 years of sailing experience as Chief Officer on Chemical or LPG tankers.
- Experience on parcel tankers is preferred.
- Possess maritime certifications such as Chief Officer’s license; a Master’s license is an advantage.
- Experience in Oil Major vetting inspections and ship/terminal operations.
- Good knowledge of maritime regulations.
- Strong responsibility, proactive mindset, and willingness to travel.
