You will be responsible for the installation and troubleshooting of automation systems while ensuring compliance with safety standards. Arc Marine Engineering Pte Ltd is seeking a skilled and experienced Marine Electrical Automation Engineer to install, maintain, and troubleshoot automated systems on ships and offshore platforms.
The ideal candidate will ensure the efficient and reliable operation of vessel systems by integrating new technologies, diagnosing faults, and maintaining compliance with maritime safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot marine automation systems on board vessels and in workshop
Diagnose and repair faults in electrical and automation equipment, including PLCs, sensors, controllers, and motor drives
Integrate new automation technologies with existing ship systems and third-party systems
Provide technical support, guidance, and training to ship crews and engineering teams on system operations and best practices
Prepare technical reports, system manuals, and documentation for all automation systems
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with IMO, class, and other relevant safety/regulatory standards
Collaborate with shipyards, project managers, and cross-functional engineering teams for new builds, retrofits, and maintenance projects
Support commissioning activities and perform functional testing of automation systems
Qualifications Required
Diploma or degree in Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or related field
Hands-on experience in marine automation and electrical systems, preferably in shipbuilding, repair, or offshore projects
Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), SCADA systems, and marine automation platforms
Knowledge of power distribution, engine control systems, ballast water treatment systems, and navigation integration
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders and ship crew
Attention to detail and a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
Able to follow vessel schedule and travel domestic or international as project/job demands
