Job summary

Resorts World Sentosa’s Singapore Oceanarium is seeking a Manager of Conservation to lead the long-term conservation strategy and its execution across internal teams and international partners.

The role directs a team of conservation professionals, engages with government bodies, NGOs, and academic institutions to publish findings and advance conservation, and ensures staff training and monitoring for ongoing success.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD degree in environmental science, marine biology, ecology, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience, preferably from working in a conservation organization.
• Experience in strategic conservation planning, development of frameworks, and long-term conservation plans.
• Experience managing a team of at least 2-5 staff in the field of conservation.
• Prior experience at a zoological institution is an asset.
• Ability to write and review scientific publications.
• Optimal oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement long-term conservation strategies and goals, supporting the Conservation Master Plan and aligning with global and regional priorities.
• Supervise a team implementing conservation initiatives in line with SG Oceanarium Conservation Master Plan.
• Serve as a liaison between SGO and external partners, including conservation groups, NGOs, government agencies, and academic institutions.
• Supervise and coordinate publication of research findings in scientific journals and other media.
• Represent SGO at conferences, workshops, and accreditation processes to enhance its profile.
• Engage with government bodies and legal teams to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
• Foster relationships with academic institutions in Singapore to promote collaborative opportunities.
• Manage legal documentation related to collaborations and MOUs ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
• Collaborate with the SGO Research team to ensure conservation relevance of research.
• Coordinate with the RWS Conservation Fund team to ensure delivery of funded projects.
• Work with the SGO Volunteers and Outreach team on citizen science and youth engagement.
