Job description

Site Name: Singapore - Jurong

Purpose

To plan, schedule, organize, manage, and control the production and engineering activities of bulk drug substances in the Production Building to achieve targeted production levels in a cost-effective, efficient, and reliable manner, within the framework of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), quality, safety, occupational hygiene, responsible environmental protection, and in consideration of the dynamic business environment.

Responsibilities

  1. Focus on routine manufacturing activities to ensure production of bulk drug substances meets quality, time, and cost specifications, complying with internal and external requirements, regulations, and standards.
  2. Manage a team of professionals (e.g., Manufacturing Engineers, Chemists) to troubleshoot process, manufacturing, and customer-related issues, and implement remedial actions to minimize impact on production.
  3. Monitor and ensure staff compliance with operating procedures, documentation, GMP, safety, occupational hygiene, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  4. Develop, review, and approve manufacturing documents in accordance with site procedures.
  5. Support the generation of capital expenditure (CAPEX) proposals for budgeting and collaborate with the Technical Operations Team on New Production Introduction (NPI) and capital projects.
  6. Generate and manage the operating budget for the section, ensuring achievement of operational targets and driving cost reduction initiatives.
  7. Track and consolidate routine production activity data for management decision-making, perform tier reviews, and update visual metrics.
  8. Manage, develop, and motivate staff to maximize their potential and contribute to departmental objectives.
  9. Act as a Value Stream Embedded GSK Production System (GPS) Practitioner to promote reduction of accidents, defects, waste, and continuous improvement within the Value Stream.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  1. A degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a relevant field.
  2. 5-8 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, chemical, or petrochemical industry.
  3. Experience in commissioning and operations in pharmaceutical plants.
  4. Good knowledge of products, production processes, and plant operations.
  5. Maintenance engineering knowledge.
  6. Statistical analysis skills.
  7. Troubleshooting skills.
  8. Knowledge of GMP, safety, hygiene, and environmental regulations.
  9. Understanding of NDA registration procedures.
  10. Project management, presentation, communication, and management skills.
  11. Strong stakeholder interaction skills.
  12. Understanding of business processes and MERPS.
  13. Knowledge of LeanSigma principles and their application.
