Job Summary
Perform
the Manufacturing Engineering activity in Engine Overhaul/Component
Repair production areas. Act as Technical Authority, assuring the
initial and continuing capability of the Production method to produce
conforming product and ensuring the resolution of technical
issues/problems/arisings to meet business and customer requirements for
safety, cost, delivery rate and leadtime (SQCD). Support integration on
all Manufacturing Engineering activities across the product lifecycle
and through the supply chain.
Responsibilities
- HSEPractice full compliance to Health, Safety & EnvironmentalStandards and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm programme.
- ProductSafety Understand product safety risks and work on mitigation to meetthe required safety levels supporting requirements of the CompanysSafety Management System.
- Quality Practice a culture of zerodefects ensuring that manufacturing processes and methods within thebusiness are developed and deployed to support Right First methodology.Support process and product related Quality investigation, and manageNADCAP accreditation.
- Delivery Ensure that manufacturingprocesses and methods of manufacture within the business and suppliersare developed and deployed to support/deliver Right First Timemanufacture using SPS, DMAIC and System Engineering tools. ManageFAIR/MSA activities and Source & method change in the cell/area ofaccountability.
- Delivery Review issues identified e.g.Troubleshoot Strip / Build, Balancing, Runout, In-situ repair, ComponentRepair processes and key equipment/toolings (ITT, VTL, BTG, Wash, FTB,CMM, etc), determine resolutions and reestablish the Standards.
- Cost Support cell/area of accountability to meet cost targets e.g. productivity, CONQ etc.
- StandardsDeploy and sustain the SAESL Operating System Standards by workingwith the Cell/Area CFT, and where applicable with the suppliers.Identify opportunity to improve the Standards.
- TechnicalAuthority Specify Manufacturing Engineering and process requirementsand make technical decisions in relation to the cell/area ofaccountability.
- Lean/Improvement Identify requirements forimprovements and innovations in manufacturing processes and methods ofmanufacture within their cell/area of accountability. Prioritise andpromote launch of new projects based on business case. Drivemanufacturing processes towards identified best practice.
- Deploycapability (including NPI) Responsible for production readiness ofnew product manufacturing capabilities or methods of manufacture.Develop numerate, real time methods for capturing process capability,and ensure it is available and acted on within the facility/supplychain. Maintenance of Production Technical Packages (technicalinstructions, programmes, tooling, etc) for all parts/assembles whichclearly define the manufacturing process ensuring manufacturingprocesses and/or methods of manufacture meets the requirements forquality, cost, delivery rate and lead time.
