Manufacturing Design Engineer (Optics)

Job summary

KLA is seeking a highly qualified optics scientist/engineer to lead the assembly, alignment and testing of opto‑mechanical subsystems for the latest generation of wafer inspection tools in Singapore.

You will drive manufacturing procedures, oversee system integration projects, and collaborate with suppliers and internal teams. This role requires strong PM skills, a collaborative mindset, and readiness to travel internationally up to 25% as needed.

Qualifications

• PhD/masters or equivalent with relevant optics experience.
• Hands-on assembly, alignment, calibration of opto-mechanical subsystems.
• Experience with optical testing equipment (interferometers, spectrometers, etc.).
• Proven ability to develop manufacturing procedures and lead teams.
• Excellent PM, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally (25%).

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications

• Bachelor/Master's/Ph.D in Physics or Optics with relevant work experience
• Hands-on experience in assembly, alignment, calibration, system integration, and testing of opto-mechanical subsystems,
• Good working knowledge of optical testing equipment such as interferometers, autocollimators, alignment telescopes, spectrometers, etc
• Experience in developing manufacturing procedures and leading a team in assembling, aligning, calibrating and testing optical systems
• Excellent project management, problem solving and interpersonal skills
• A self-driven individual with keen technical mind, positive attitude and strong team player
• 25 % of international travel required

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic) , Master's Level Degree or work experience of 2 years , Bachelor's Level Degree or work experience of 3 years
