Job description

Purpose of the role:

As one of the designated Senior Manager under Individual Accountability and Conduct (IAC) Standard, lead and manage the Corporate Banking Control Department to keep safety & soundness of the branch’s business as well as financial platform from credit risk management perspective by performing booking review of deals to be booked in the branch, monitoring the lending portfolio, meeting with various reporting requirement to the regulators, supporting credit middle office functions for the business lines.

Act as control function of Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) including: (i) process control and due date control, (ii) TPRM document check, (iii) stakeholder management, (iv) monitoring and reporting, and (v) document library maintenance.

Job Responsibilities:

· Develop the Corporate Banking Control Department’s business and organizational strategy in Singapore Branch and support developing the branch’s strategy mainly in the credit risk management perspective.

· Manage the credit risk related impact to the branch’s balance sheet and income statement. Manage the department’s expense within the given target, continuously striving to improve the productivity.

· Maintain and develop strong collaborative relationships with the stakeholders such as the business lines, the credit / risk divisions, and the planning divisions, particularly at the management level.

· Manage the performance, development and recognition efforts for direct and indirect reports, ensuring effective cascade of branch, regional and organization objectives.

· Chair or participate in relevant committees (Credit Committee, Risk Management Committee, Executive Management Committee, etc.) within the branch. Monitor proper sanctioning of delegated authority related to booking approval. Lead and provide oversight to internal and external audits / inspections.

Job Requirements:

· Degree qualified

· Minimum 15 years of working experience within the banking industry, with background in Credit Analysis/Risk Management area and preferably have been in a role of Business Line and Product Office (i.e. Structured Finance)

· Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to influence others

· Strong coaching, mentoring and leadership skills to manage and develop a team

· Business level proficiency in Japanese (spoken and written) is required to liaise with Head Office and stakeholders in Japan, to understand the Japanese credit policies of assigned portfolio and to review its alignment with Head Office policy

· Solid knowledge in credit analysis and risk management
