A leading manufacturer of motion systems is seeking a General Manager to oversee its Singapore-based production facility. The ideal candidate will drive business performance across ASEAN and South Asia, aligning strategies with the Japan headquarters. This role requires a deep understanding of motion systems, strong leadership skills, and extensive experience in managing sales and operations in a multicultural environment.
1. Regional Business Leadership:
Lead and manage the Singapore-based production facility and drive business performance across ASEAN and South Asia for a Japanese motion system manufacturer.
2. Strategic Direction and Execution:
Formulate and implement high-level business strategies that align with the global direction set by the Japan headquarters. Ensure strategic initiatives drive growth, operational excellence, and regional competitiveness.
3. Sales Leadership and Target Achievement:
Lead the Asia sales division with full accountability for achieving and exceeding regional sales targets. Formulate and execute sales strategies tailored to motion system applications, ensuring alignment with group-wide direction and customer needs. Develop and execute market-driven sales strategies in direct alignment with the group-wide objectives and global sales direction.
4. Production Strategy and Operational Coordination:
Collaborate closely with Japan-based factories and corporate headquarters to support and enhance group-wide production strategies. Ensure smooth integration of regional manufacturing capabilities within the global supply chain.
5. Strategic Procurement Management:
Lead procurement functions locally and support group-wide sourcing strategies, with a focus on motion system components (mechanical, electrical, and control systems). Ensure supply chain efficiency and resilience for a monthly procurement scale exceeding S$5 million.
6. Organizational Development and Talent Management:
Drive leadership development across the organization. Identify and groom high-potential local leaders, and mentor executive staff to independently lead core departments including operations, engineering, and sales.
7. Governance and Legal Compliance:
Build and enforce a robust corporate governance framework to ensure compliance with all applicable legal, financial, and ethical standards across jurisdictions.
8. Financial Oversight:
Take long-term responsibility for the company’s financial health and cash flow management. Ensure prudent fiscal planning and risk management while supporting growth initiatives.
9. Global Stakeholder Communication:
Act as the key conduit between regional operations and Japan headquarters. Ensure frequent, transparent, and effective communication to synchronize strategies, resolve issues, and enhance global collaboration.
Job Requirements
o JLPT N1 or equivalent proficiency in Japanese for precise coordination with Japan HQ and regional stakeholders.
o Minimum of 10 years’ experience at General Manager level or above.
o Deep understanding of precision motors, motor controllers, and motion system technologies.
o Demonstrated success in driving sales growth. Ability to develop strategies that directly support achievement of global sales goals and market penetration.
o Strong leadership and communication skills. Experience building high-performing teams and managing multicultural talent across business units.
o Overseas working experience and cross-cultural management capability are highly desirable.
o In-depth knowledge of motion systems, including precision motors, motor controllers, and drive solutions.
o Hands-on experience in motion system applications across key industries (e.g., robotics, factory automation, medical equipment, etc.).
