Job Description

The Manager for Undergraduate Studies Office plays a pivotal role in positioning our School as the top choice for prospective undergraduate applicants. You will be responsible for structuring and implementing Aptitude-Based Admissions (ABA) instruments—including interview assessment criteria and aptitude tests—in close consultation with departmental selection committees. Additionally, you will design and execute engagement strategies to attract and enroll talented students, overseeing both the NUS Scholarship Recruitment Selection and ABA Exercises to ensure NUS meets its annual intake and aptitude-based admissions targets

Key Responsibilities

  • Structure and refine Aptitude-Based Admissions instruments in collaboration with department selection committees.
  • Lead, coordinate, and evaluate applicant interviews, or assign/oversee third-party assessors such as alumni or former faculty.
  • Develop scalable interviewing solutions involving internal and external stakeholders to expand assessment capacity.
  • Reduce administrative workload for academic staff by assuming interviewer and coordinator roles.
  • Oversee NUS Scholarship Recruitment Selection and Aptitude-Based Admission Exercises, ensuring compliance with intake requirements.
  • Serve as the main liaison for Undergraduate Studies during outreach activities, engaging with prospective students, school counselors, and handling academic programme queries.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and promote the School’s programmes through various engagement activities.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff where required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in undergraduate admissions, including structuring and conducting interviews for admissions and scholarships.
  • Experience with designing and implementing assessment criteria and aptitude tests in consultation with academic committees.
  • IT savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and database management.
  • Strong data literacy and analytics capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and handle objections with confidence.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work under tight deadlines (including willingness to work weekends during peak admissions periods).
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and able to work independently with a positive attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and enjoyment of outreach, meeting people, and organising activities.
Supervisory or team-leading experience will be an advantage.
