Job description

This position is for Mrs Wong Kwok Leong Student Wellness Centre (MWKLSWC).

Accommodations and Accessibility:

  • Assess, recommend, and implement disability-related accommodations to enhance learning accessibility for students with disabilities, both permanent and temporary.

Student Well-being:

  • Conduct regular socio-emotional check-ins to support the well-being of students receiving disability support services.

Programme Management:

  • Manage the student assistant programme, overseeing recruitment, training, and service delivery.

Records and Documentation:

  • Ensure accurate and timely management of student records and case documentation in the designated database management system.

Resource Development and Support:

  • Develop and distribute resource packs and information guides to facilitate disability support across various departments and faculty.
  • Provide support to faculty members and school administrators in assisting students with disabilities.

Awareness and Engagement:

  • Organise and execute events, workshops, and campaigns to raise disability awareness within the SMU community.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders (Registrar's Office, Career Centre, etc.) and external partners (SG Enable, other IHLs, community organizations) to enhance disability inclusion and accessibility on campus.
  • Collaborate with corporate industry partners to create opportunities for inclusive hiring of students with diverse needs and abilities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A degree in social sciences, humanities, education, and/or communications.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in education and/or social work sectors, with a focus on supporting students with disabilities.
  • A robust network of contacts within local and international disability support or volunteer welfare organisations is advantageous.
  • Proven experience working with clients with special educational needs.
  • Strong coordination and organisational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse community.
  • Proficient in conducting presentations, workshops, and group facilitation for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills in English.

Other Information

Candidates who do not possess the stipulated qualifications but have relevant work experience may still apply. Remuneration and appointment terms shall commensurate with qualifications and experience. SMU reserves the right to modify the appointment terms where necessary.
