Job summary

HTX in Singapore seeks an officer in the Forensics Sensemaking, Integrated Forensics Service (IFS) to spearhead frontline forensic sensemaking across crime scene, drug and digital forensics. You will harness forensic big data to inform investigations and shape near-term outcomes for the Home Team.

You will undertake horizon scanning, develop and implement capabilities that leverage frontline data, establish and refine the IFS operational framework, and monitor system development and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Strong statistical and analytical reasoning with ability to extract meaningful insights from large/complex datasets.
• Ability to interpret and assimilate contextual forensic data and knowledge with limited prior experience.
• Ability to translate raw data into relevant and actionable findings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Tertiary qualification in science or engineering; postgraduate qualifications beneficial.
• Minimally 2 years of experience in crime scene, drug or digital forensics, and/or data analysis or system development.

Responsibilities

• Undertake horizon scanning and research on best practices for forensic sensemaking across local/international institutions and law enforcement; provide assessments and recommendations.
• Develop, deliver and implement forensic sensemaking capabilities leveraging frontline data.

What the role is

The jobholder will be an officer in the Forensics Sensemaking, Integrated Forensics Service (IFS), spearheading frontline forensic sensemaking capabilities and operational frameworks across the crime scene, drug and digital forensic domains. The jobholder will help harness and exploit forensic big data to inform decision making for Home Team investigations, and shape near-term investigative outcomes and long-term forensic strategies. This role furthers the Forensics Sensemaking’s aim to maximise the value and outcomes of frontline forensics, positioning the IFS as a future-ready force that supports HTX and the Home Teams.

What You Will Be Working On

The jobholder will be responsible for advancing frontline forensic capabilities in the following areas:

• Undertake horizon scanning and research on the best practices, capabilities, technologies and operating models for forensic sensemaking across local and international forensic institutions and law enforcement agencies, and provide assessments and recommendations on the conceptualisation of forensic sensemaking across the crime scene, drug and digital forensics domains.
• Develop, deliver and implement forensic sensemaking capabilities, including system, process, people and policy solutions, that leverage the use of frontline forensic data.
• Establish, implement and refine the forensic sensemaking operational framework in IFS.
• Monitor, manage and update system development and forensic sensemaking outcomes.

What We Are Looking For

• Individuals who possess strong statistical and analytical reasoning, and can understand, appreciate and extract meaningful insights from large and / or complex datasets.
• Individuals who can interpret and assimilate contextual forensic data and knowledge even with limited prior experience.
• Individuals who can translate raw data into relevant and actionable findings.
• Individuals with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Tertiary qualification in science or engineering fields, law enforcement, homeland security, or related fields. Postgraduate qualifications will be beneficial.
• Minimally 2 years of proven work experience and skillsets in crime scene, drug or digital forensic operations; and / or data analysis and system development. Working knowledge of Home Team investigations and operations will be beneficial.
• Experience in systems development or data science fields will be beneficial.
• All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
