Job description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Manager shall oversee a wide range of research administrative functions to support the smooth conduct of research in NCID that are aligned with NCID's operational and research objectives as well as in accordance with applicable laws, policies and guidelines. These include, but are not limited to, grants management and administration, project management, research governance, research outcomes collation and reporting. The manager shall also lead and oversee NCID's local and international collaborations efforts through joint projects, visits, meetings and symposiums.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SPECIFIC

  • Lead in the NCID grants administration and management. This includes grant calls, support grants submission and review process, organize review panel meetings, award processing and grant variation requests including closing.
  • Oversee research projects and, working with other project managers, ensure smooth execution of projects, review of research agreements, monitoring of deliverables/timelines, grants management, procurement/purchasing, processing of claims/reimbursements, tracking of utilization, facilitate variations, closures and reporting to internal stakeholders.
  • Lead in NCID research governance framework with regards to proper conduct of research, data and tissue banks, ensuring that research is conducted in alignment with applicable regulations, policies and guidelines.
  • Lead in ensuring proper oversight of Infectious Diseases Act approved research studies.
  • Oversee NCID's research performance outcomes for reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate cross-institutional and/or multi-disciplinary collaboration with other healthcare and academic institutions and partners, based locally or abroad.
  • Lead in the planning and coordination of research meetings, presentations, recording of minutes, and organizing research visits/seminars.
  • Mentor and supervise junior staff in the areas above.
  • Establish, implement, fine-tune and improve the research administrative support processes and workflows with the objective of supporting NCID research initiatives.

GENERAL

  • Participate in projects at departmental/institution/cluster level.
  • Participate in other duties as directed by supervisors, including work areas not mentioned here.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

Minimum Bachelor Degree preferably in Biomedical Sciences. Extensive experience in research administration, especially in a healthcare setting.

EXPERIENCE

  • Good written and oral communication skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Meticulous, detail-oriented, responsible and able to manage ambiguities.
  • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in handling research budgets.
  • Good interpersonal skills, pleasant personality with a good working attitude.
  • Familiarity with Singapore's biomedical research landscape.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office applications.
