Job summary

Public Service Division, via the Terrestrial branch of the National Biodiversity Centre, is seeking a project manager to coordinate species recovery efforts for Singapore’s threatened flora and fauna. You will implement recovery programmes, conduct literature reviews, and lead fieldwork across diverse habitats.

The role requires strong data analysis and report writing, and involvement in broader biodiversity science initiatives.

Qualifications

• Background in Ecology, Conservation Biology, Zoology or related field.
• Meticulous, resourceful and able to multi-task to meet deadlines.
• Willing to work extensively in the field, including nights.
• Strong organisation, communication, writing and analytical skills.
• Experience in ecology or conservation research.
• Animal handling experience and Class 3 driving licence is a plus.

[What the role is]

The Terrestrial branch under the National Biodiversity Centre is responsible for the conservation of terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems. We are looking for a project manager to coordinate species recovery efforts for Singapore’s threatened flora and fauna. The species recovery programme aims to ensure the persistence of targeted species through a combination of habitat enhancement and scientific research.

[What you will be working on]

The successful applicant is required to implement recovery programmes for a variety of fauna species on the programme. Duties include conducting literature reviews, carrying out fieldwork in a variety of habitats during both diurnal and nocturnal hours, as well as data analysis and report writing. Aside from species recovery work, the successful applicant will also be involved in supporting the administration of several other biodiversity-related science and technology initiatives under the National Biodiversity Centre.

[What we are looking for]

• Areas of study in Ecology, Conservation Biology, Zoology or related field is preferred
• A meticulous, resourceful and self-driven team player who is able to multi-task to meet deadlines
• Able to work extensively and independently in the field
• Strong organisation, communications, writing and analytical skills
• Prior work or research experience in ecology and conservation
• Experience in animal handling and possession of a Class 3 driving license will be an advantage
