What You'll Do

Avalara Professional Services team is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to oversee the Managed Implementation team. The Manager will lead teams in India and coordinate with stakeholders in the United States and India. This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a professional group dedicated to exceeding customer expectations through managing complex projects and delivering effective sales and use tax automation services.

The responsibilities include managing operations performance focusing on Turn Around Time & Quality, working under pressure in a high-volume environment, and ensuring standards of productivity and quality within timelines. The Manager will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee the execution and completion of projects, develop process improvement strategies, monitor client projects, and resolve issues to keep projects on track.

Key duties involve eliciting and documenting business requirements, proposing best practices for tax automation initiatives, managing stakeholder relationships, documenting processes, and leading multiple client implementations simultaneously. The role requires coordinating between internal teams and clients, managing risks, reporting project metrics, and owning technical issue resolution.

What You'll Need to be Successful
  • Overall experience of 10-15 years, with experience in a shared services model.
  • Experience managing teams and engaging with business stakeholders outside India.
  • At least 5 years of proven people management, team building, and process migration experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to independently plan and execute strategies, anticipate operational challenges, and resolve problems.
  • Excellent data organization and logical analysis skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders and handle conflicts effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Team-oriented with a focus on customer satisfaction and business growth.
  • Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
  • Results-driven, highly organized, motivated, and capable of managing multiple teams and leaders.
  • Educational background: Graduate (10+2+3), preferably in Engineering or technical field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • B.E. or MCA degree.
  • Experience with sales tax compliance.
  • Leadership experience managing multiple stakeholders and teams.
