Overview
The incumbent will be responsible for leading and optimizing day-to-day operations. This includes managing resources, processes, and technologies to ensure that R&D projects are delivered on time and in alignment with programs schedules. This role requires strong technical background, leadership experience and keen understanding of both engineering operations and product development processes to support multiple R&D projects. The incumbent will ensure compliance with safety standards, maintain lab assets, manage technical staff, and provide operational support to accelerate innovation and product development.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and oversee day-to-day operations, manage resource allocation, including personnel, equipment, and inventory of materials and consumable, to ensure project success.
- Monitor and improve efficiency in workflows, ensuring that schedules and outputs are delivered on time and within scope.
- Enabling test activities that support product development, characterization, or validation.
- Analyze operational data to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions to streamline processes.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the R&D team to ensure consistency and quality.
- Implement and enforce lab safety protocols, EHS standards, and cleanroom procedures.
- Manage installation, qualification, and preventive maintenance of equipment in the cleanroom.
- Ensure cleanroom facilities are operational 24/7 and all facility equipment are functional, well maintained and adhere to all safety regulations.
- Lead the development and implementation of operational strategies to optimize the R&D processes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the R&D engineering process, incorporating best practices, lean methodologies, and new technologies.
- Ensure that engineering solutions are compliant with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Work closely with product development, engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to align R&D efforts with organizational goals.
- Identify potential risks and bottlenecks in projects and proactively mitigate them.
- Ensure the team is adequately resourced with the necessary tools, technologies, and training to meet project demands.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Identify and recommend resource needs, both in terms of personnel and technology upgrades.
- Identify and support training opportunities for team members to enhance technical skills and professional growth.
- Conduct performance reviews, set individual goals, and ensure team development.
