Manager, Global Engineering

The incumbent leads Factory’s Engineering Manager in planning, coordinating, and overseeing engineering projects to ensure they are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills to drive innovation, improve processes, and ensure the successful execution of engineering initiatives. The incumbent is also responsible for mentoring team members and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Assist in managing project deliverables and monitoring timeline.
2. Coordinate with respective stakeholders, internal or external, to ensure smooth completion of the project.
3. Document the process along the way. Manage and document full process flow of:

• Responsible for delivery success of assigned project.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure systems and procedures are compliant with the Organization’s Quality standards and Regulatory requirements.
• Sourcing for machinery/equipment/parts, conduct technical evaluation and submit proposals for management review.
• Participate in Project Core Team meetings or Extended Team meetings to drive action to solutions.
• Organize project meetings and compile project status reports to achieve project scope, schedule, resources, and budget.
• Identify and manage project risks, implementing mitigation strategies to address potential delays or issues.
• Drive operational readiness to support development builds and trial manufacturing builds. Conduct reviews and compile reports.
• Participate in new process development, optimize existing processes, and implement technical breakthrough activities through Lean / Six Sigma methodology to reduce manufacturing costs and/or enhance manufacturing efficiency.
• Provide technical leadership and decision-making on complex engineering problems.
• Review and approve technical designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure alignment with project goals.
• Ensure the application of best practices, engineering standards, and state-of-the-art technologies in all projects.
• Continuously evaluate and improve engineering processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Any other ad hoc responsibility tasked by the reporting Manager / Senior Management.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Degree and above / relevant Trade Certifications in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering or related.
• 7 years working experience (with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role) in FMCG manufacturing companies in a similar role preferred or relevant experience in leading medium to large scale projects involving process improvement or installation of new production lines.

• Strong understanding of engineering principles, design, and project management methodologies.
• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge in lean manufacturing, supply chain, quality standards/regulatory requirements will be an added advantage.
• Project Management, Quality Focus, Database Design, analyzing information, etc.
• Efficiency in reporting research results, attentive to detail, emphasizing excellence in Innovation.
• Able to multi-task, meet deadlines with demonstrated ability to drive improvement.
• Proven track record of successfully managing engineering projects, including budgeting and resource allocation.
• Demonstrated strong ability to lead and drive meetings/discussions, communicate issues, and resolve conflicts within cross-functional teams.
• Good planning and organization skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong negotiation skills.
