Job description

Job Summary:

We are looking for a meticulous and experienced finance professional to oversee financial accounting and ensure statutory compliance for our subsidiaries. This role is responsible for managing intercompany transactions, handling accounting and reporting for research, investment, and funding activities. Additionally, you will support year-end audits by coordinating statutory reporting and audit processes. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of financial regulations, reporting standards, and audit requirements, with the ability to work and collaborate across other functions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial oversight and inter-company accounting:

  • Oversee the financial reporting of subsidiaries, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. This includes managing the accounting for a Holding company, monthly intercompany transactions, reconciliations and inter-company eliminations.


2. Group consolidation and year-end close activities:
  • Assist in the preparation of accounting adjustment entries for quarterly and year-end close.
  • Update and validate Notes to Accounts for group consolidation and reporting.
  • Perform review for audit confirmation.
  • Co-ordinate with auditors and provide necessary documentation for annual audits.


3. Statutory compliance and financial reporting:
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements for financial reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial reports and statistical reports for submission to government bodies such as MOE, Department of Statistics, etc.
  • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies as needed.


4. Research Grant accounting:
  • Responsible for interim and year-end review of accounting postings for research-related grants, ensuring proper recognition of grant revenue and expenditure are recorded in accordance with accounting standards.


5. Investment accounting and reporting:
  • Responsible for the accounting of each investment fund type and ensure proper classification of financial assets in compliance with the accounting standards and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to maintain accurate records of fund balances and monitor future investment obligations, ensuring proper execution and accurate recording of investment returns.
  • Responsible for the preparation of investment fund reporting such as Income allocation report and distribution reports.


6. Development and Sinking Fund accounting and reporting:
  • Responsible for the accounting of Development Fund and Sinking Fund in accordance with the funding framework and to ensure proper fund segregation.
  • Assist in the preparation of periodic financial reports including cash flow to track fund usage, project progress, and future fund commitments.


7. Ad hoc projects:
  • Lead / Assist with sustainability disclosure project, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards for ESG reporting.
  • Lead / support automation projects to enhance or streamline financial reporting.
  • Any other ad hoc projects.


8. Team collaboration:
  • Work closely with finance teams across subsidiaries and Shared Services to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Provide insights and reports to senior management for strategic decision making.


Requirements:
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is a plus.
  • Experience in financial reporting, consolidation, and statutory compliance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and reporting tools.
