It's an amazing time to join the Netflix team in APAC as we continue to transform entertainment and bring our region's stories to audiences around the world. Communications at Netflix represents a seasoned group of professionals shaping and telling the story of Netflix as the leader in streaming entertainment. The work of this team is critical in illustrating the company's success and reinforcing our reputation in a fast-changing, complex and competitive global landscape. We tell compelling stories about Netflix titles, brand and initiatives, working closely with content, policy, publicity, production, marketing and other functions to infuse these stories with their efforts.

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced and creative professional to join the APAC Comms team who will lead communications strategy and execution in our key markets across Southeast Asia and Taiwan. This role will illustrate Netflix's local productions and demonstrate our ongoing investment and impact in these markets, both with local press, industry, policymakers and influencers, and amplify these across a global stage.

The right candidate will bring a strong understanding of the media, entertainment and cultural landscape in Southeast Asia and Taiwan. Our growing variety of stories and investment in creative talent in front of and behind the camera make Southeast Asia and Taiwan exciting countries for Netflix. The team is committed to local stories, producers, directors, writers, actors and production crews across the region with recent hits like The Shadow Strays, The Believers, and GG Precinct, with many more to come. This candidate will help demonstrate Netflix's ongoing commitment to the SEA/TW creative community and ecosystem, and they'll do it through creative storytelling at both the business and consumer level, as well as amongst industry stakeholders and KOFs (Key Opinion Formers).

We are looking for a candidate with a self-starting, creative, strategic and business-savvy mindset, thriving in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment. Someone who enjoys the challenge of juggling multiple projects, and can become a trusted advisor to key stakeholders across the SEA/TW teams, along with our global teams. Creative thinking, cross-functional campaign and agency management experience, and local media relationships are essential. The right candidate has a willingness to learn rapidly, enjoys operating with autonomy, and makes decisions with confidence despite ambiguity.

Reporting to the Communications Director, APAC and SEA/TW, the candidate will possess at least 10 years of experience in entertainment, consumer brands, media, or agency settings. Of particular interest are candidates with backgrounds in the entertainment sector, with the ability to build proactive campaigns, articulate company narratives, and understand advocacy work by partnering closely with the policy team. You'll need the ability to think strategically, be curious but cool under fire, and able to build and maintain stellar relationships with internal and external partners.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have a global mindset and creative approach to communications strategy, preferably with experience of working for international consumer brands.
  • Possess superb pitching skills and a passion for landing meaningful coverage and storytelling opportunities that target impactful audiences.
  • The ability to proactively identify and preempt opportunities and challenges that could enhance or hurt the Netflix brand.
  • Expertly understand the SEA region and Taiwan - beyond simply the press landscape to leverage trends and connect with influential industry figures.
  • Have very strong writing and communication skills.
  • Love entertainment and the prospect of delivering stories from all over the world to people all over the world.
  • Write and shape our key corporate communications materials including brand narrative, executive briefing and media training.
  • Translate Netflix's overall communications strategy into action-oriented initiatives at the local level.
  • Manage and execute multiple projects effectively, bringing along cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment and impact across the business.
  • Have experience remotely managing agencies to land effective on-the-ground campaigns.
  • Prioritise building relationships inside and outside the organisation that enable better communications storytelling.
  • Be agile, comfortable with ambiguity, and have the ability to stay cool under fire.
  • Have a strong bias-to-action and can change course, be scrappy and get things done on short timeframes.

To succeed at Netflix, the candidate must also possess the following characteristics:

  • A self-starting attitude and independent thinker with the ability to innovate and introduce new ideas, making the leap from information to insight.
  • Succinct communicator and a great writer.
  • Flourishes in a 'hands-on' role - no job is too small and willingness to add value at different levels. Is detail-oriented and highly organised.

Netflix's culture attracts talents who exhibit good judgement, innovation, selflessness, courage, impact, candid communication, passion, and curiosity. Read our culture memo. If it resonates with you, maybe you're the right person to join our team.

Inclusion is a Netflix value and we strive to host a meaningful interview experience for all candidates. If you want an accommodation/adjustment for a disability or any other reason during the hiring process, please send a request to your recruiting partner.
