Job description

  • Conceptualise and design a wide variety of marketing materials including brochures, social media assets, posters, eDMs, digital banners, merchandise, signage, and event collaterals.
  • Develop and edit videos, animations, and motion graphics for campaign use across web, social, and events.
  • Maintain visual consistency across all touchpoints in alignment with SMU's brand guidelines.
  • Manage brand compliance requests and support internal stakeholders to apply brand assets correctly.
  • Collaborate closely with the marketing, events, communications, and digital teams to deliver high-impact creative solutions.
  • Support visual merchandising and environmental branding efforts across campus spaces.
  • Liaise with printers, vendors, and production houses to ensure quality and timely delivery of creative assets.
  • Stay updated with design and multimedia trends, bringing fresh and modern perspectives to the table.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Multimedia, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant design experience, preferably in a fast-paced, client-oriented or institutional environment.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro), Canva and/or other mainstream design / video editing software.
  • Proactive in upskilling oneself in the areas of design and adoption of AI tools to enhance work effectiveness and efficiency
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of work including digital and print design, video editing, and animations.
  • Excellent understanding of layout, typography, colour theory, and visual hierarchy.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple deadlines, and respond well to feedback.
  • A collaborative mindset with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with brand systems and experience enforcing brand compliance across diverse applications.
  • A proactive attitude, strong sense of ownership, and willingness to learn.
  • Visual storytelling skills: including the ability to translate ideas, messages, and campaigns into compelling visual narratives across various media platforms
  • Proficiency in design software: including advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite and Canva, as well as the ability to quickly adapt to new tools and technologies.
  • Brand governance: including the ability to apply and enforce brand guidelines consistently across diverse collaterals, while guiding stakeholders on best practices.
  • Project management skills: including the ability to manage multiple design requests, meet deadlines, and allocate time and resources efficiently.
  • Attention to detail: including the ability to maintain high standards of accuracy and consistency in all creative output.
  • Communication skills: including the ability to clearly present creative concepts and respond constructively to feedback from internal clients and collaborators.
