Job description

What the role is:

Purpose of Job

You will participate in cross-divisional project teams that play a critical role in preparing, planning and enabling the implementation of the Food Safety and Security Act (FSSA).

This position requires strong analytical capabilities and interpersonal effectiveness to coordinate and muster cross-divisional resources to plan, obtain buy-in and see through ops implementation and subsidiary legislations (SL) enactment as the FSSA enters into force in three tranches, progressively from mid-2025 to end-2027.

What you will be working on:

Duties

1. Involve in implementation of the following FSSA SL drawing reference to the existing food related legislations:

• SL on Catalogued Insect-like Species

• SL on Non-packaged Drinking Water

• SL on Record Keeping Requirements

• SL on Sampling Procedure

• SL on Food and Animal Feed Trading

• SL on Food Business

• SL on Exclusion from Definition of Plant Pesticide

• SL on Compoundable Offences

• Pesticide Control Regulations

2. Involved in the review of ConOps for implementation of FSSA and SL:

• Integrating and transforming requirements from FSSA / SLs and JARVIS (BPR To-Be work processes) into future ConOps and SOPs

• Involved in user requirement gathering to understand the process flow changes System Enhancement Identify critical use cases that would be required for existing system enhancement (based on FSSB Tranches)

• Identify critical use cases that would be required for existing system enhancement (based on FSSB Tranches)

3. The officer will report to and be briefed by Director/JOD-OM for these segments.

Qualifications / Other Experience

• Highly self-motivated, able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

• Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesise complex information

• Bachelor degree with relevant work experience in legislations implementation

• Prior experience in policy, planning and operations will be an advantage

• Proficient in both written and oral communication, capable of conveying intricate concepts effectively

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with relevant experience in engaging relevant stakeholders within and outside organisation

• Ability to work independently and as a team player within the Divisional / Departmental context

About Singapore Food Agency

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is a new Statutory Board formed under the ‘Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) to oversee food safety and security. The SFA will serve as the single point of contact for public feedback on food-related issues, and strengthen management of foodborne disease outbreaks to protect public health.The SFA will also facilitate more business-friendly regulations with oversight of all food safety policies and consolidation of food laboratory capabilities to deepen competencies in food diagnostics, and research and development in food safety.
