Role Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically skilled agronomy leader to build and manage a regional team of agronomists across Southeast Asia, North Asia, and the Pacific, with a primary focus on Indonesia, Thailand, and Japan. The role will drive scientific field programs, fertilizer innovation, market intelligence, and technical knowledge transfer to support OCP’s strategic ambitions in sustainable and customized plant nutrition.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Team Leadership:
- Recruit, build, and lead a high-performing team of agronomists in Southeast Asia, with a focus on Indonesia, Thailand, and Japan.
- Mentor and develop team capabilities across diverse agro-ecological zones and cropping systems.
2) Digital Agronomy & Knowledge Management:
- Contribute technical expertise to digital initiatives by generating localized recommendations and agronomic content.
- Codify OCP’s agronomic knowledge for the region and ensure consistency in digital advisory outputs.
3) Market Development & Intelligence:
- Develop and deliver market assessments to identify new opportunities by region, crop, product category, and customer segment.
- Provide actionable insights to guide business development and innovation prioritization.
4) Field Research & Product Development:
- Design and oversee field trials to evaluate new fertilizer formulations, raw materials, and sustainable practices aligned with crop-specific requirements.
- Lead scientific research initiatives in fertilizer technology, soil health, and plant nutrition in collaboration with local research institutions.
- Implement on-farm demonstration trials with partners and farmers to showcase product performance and drive adoption.
- Maintain a comprehensive and well-documented record of field trial data, lab analyses, and market intelligence.
5) Fertilizer Blending & Technical Support:
- Conduct blending trials with new raw materials and communicate their agronomic value to customers.
- Provide your feedback to our technical team to improve our products.
6) Stakeholder Engagement & Representation:
- Represent the organization in scientific forums, industry panels, and public sector engagements.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with regional retailers, distributors, fertilizer manufacturers, and agronomic teams.
7) Continuous Learning & Innovation:
- Stay current on regional and global agronomic research, fertilizer innovation, and sustainable practices.
- Proactively explore new market opportunities and partnerships with an entrepreneurial and data-driven mindset.
