Responsibilities
• Serve as a key member of the SBS Transit Mobility team on rail tenders, leading the Maintenance and Asset Management workstream; and/or
• When deployed to a rail operation, lead the maintenance and repair of rail systems and associated equipment for rolling stock and infrastructure. The Maintenance Lead may be appointed as Asset & Maintenance Manager, overseeing the Asset Management team and organizing labor and materials according to procedures and regulations.
• During the bid phase, lead the Maintenance Workstream by:
- Understanding existing O&M arrangements
- Participating in prework for future bids
- Contributing to internal ratio/benchmark development
- Developing the life-cycle maintenance strategy for assets
- Managing the preparation of Maintenance returnables, including the Asset Management Plan
- Providing input to other Workstreams from a Maintenance perspective, including Operations and Transition
- Overseeing the preparation of detailed maintenance plans and costings
- Determining the composition and cost of the Maintenance function and workforce in the new business
- Liaising with Workstream Leads, the Bid Leader, and project partners
- Potentially being nominated for a senior role in the new business
• In the Maintenance phase, lead and manage the Maintenance team, including:
- Ensuring a successful transition of the existing rail business’s Maintenance function to CDG / JV’s new line and contractual arrangements
- Managing the infrastructure maintenance team and contracts for sub-contracted maintenance and FM activities
- Preparing and monitoring the maintenance budget
- Maintaining standards and work instructions for infrastructure maintenance
- Identifying and pursuing improvements to optimize asset performance and cost
- Monitoring compliance with technical standards in infrastructure and rolling stock maintenance
- Analyzing equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency for continuous improvement
- Ensuring compliance with all Maintenance obligations of the rail franchise or O&M contract
- Contributing to high customer service standards and quality management
- Ensuring high safety compliance levels
- Implementing change management initiatives as per the bid or shareholder directives
- Achieving high levels of asset operational performance and reliability safely
- Partnering with network access providers and outsourced maintainers or OEMs
Requirements
- A degree in Engineering or Project Management
- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 5-10+ years of senior experience in rail maintenance or similar roles
- Experience with financial budgets, asset management systems, and plant and equipment fleet maintenance
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across locations
- Experience managing subcontractors
- Openness to future mobility opportunities
- Knowledge of permit to work systems and safety legislation
- Skilled in risk assessment, incident investigation, and reporting
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement
- Strong time management, planning, and organizational skills
