Job summary

Sembcorp is hiring a Maintenance Engineer (Electrical) based at Jurong Island, Singapore. The role focuses on planning and executing preventive and corrective electrical maintenance across MV/LV systems, motors, switchgear and HV equipment in a petrochemical/industrial setting.

You will lead outage planning, supervise contractors, apply PTW as CP, and drive reliability improvements while ensuring compliance with safety and OEM standards. 3–5 years of relevant experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in electrical engineering or related field.
• Experience with high/medium voltage equipment and industrial electrical systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, fault diagnosis and root cause analysis skills.”

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Plan and execute the scheduled, routine, PM & CM maintenance activities within schedule and cost and OEM improvement program and in compliance with regulatory and company's standards and requirements.
• Good knowledge and experience of electrical switching operations, maintenance and troubleshooting of MV/LV switch gears, HV/LV motors, 230KV SF6CB, 21 KV GCB, VFD’s MOVs, HVAC, overhead crane, battery charger & UPS, transformers, electrical protection systems, static frequency converter and static excitation system etc.
• Inspect plant electrical equipment/condition as per SOP and report to Team Lead.
• Conduct troubleshoot/ fault diagnosis/ failure analysis to determine cause of failure and report to Team Lead.
• Develop Risk Assessment and mitigation measures for every Maintenance job in the plant
• Apply for Permit to Work (PTW) as the Competent Person (CP) for every Maintenance work in the plant.
• Able to perform 230kV and 6.6kV switching operations as the Electrical Authorized Person (EAP).
• Able to perform isolation and de-isolation of high voltage (>1000 volts) equipment as the Electrical Authorized Person (EAP).
• Supervise contractors and liaise with other maintenance crafts and operations technicians to execute maintenance activities
• Withdraw and prepare spares from warehouse for job execution.
• Maintain strategic and inventory spares in the warehouse to ensure sufficient maintenance spares are available.
• Prepare daily updates on Maintenance activities for the day to all stakeholders (operations)
• Successful candidate can be appointed as part of the Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) (training will be provided)

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum relevant experience in power generation, utilities, petrochemical, oil & gas, or industrial plants.
• Lead and manage preventive, corrective, and routine electrical maintenance activities.
• Drive equipment reliability, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Plan and coordinate maintenance outages, contractor activities, and resource allocation.
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, OEM, and company requirements.
