Purpose

To manage a team of technicians/junior staff in a specific engineering discipline (Maintenance) to ensure timely implementation of projects and plant availability at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out implementation activities for plant modifications, capital projects, and other identified plant improvement projects in line with defined specifications, budget, and qualification of facilities according to site-approved procedures.
  • Provide specialist advice to other departments and subordinates for troubleshooting and continuous process/system improvements.
  • Maintain site equipment and facilities to high GMP standards, meeting regulatory expectations to ensure the site is always inspection-ready.
  • Implement and execute the Product Contamination Cause and Elimination (PCCE) program.
  • Contribute to project teams for capital projects and develop/implement maintenance plans for newly installed equipment.
  • Assist in developing Engineering Standards (ES) with site inputs.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance measures, including safety, to ensure plant inspection readiness and participate in audits.
  • Supervise, develop, and motivate junior staff to maximize their potential and contribute to departmental objectives.
  • Assist in developing the annual operating budget to meet operational targets.
  • Implement the GSK Production System (GPS) within the Engineering department.
  • Plan and execute plant maintenance, manage engineering resources during plant turnarounds, and resolve breakdowns promptly, including engaging external assistance when necessary.
  • Support the development of the facility master plan, manage obsolescence and asset replacement, and oversee utility systems to ensure continuous, reliable supply minimizing production disruptions.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
  • Honors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical experience in the process/pharmaceutical industry.
  • Basic awareness of industrial standards.
  • Understanding of local codes and requirements.
  • Familiarity with GSK Engineering Standards (ES).
  • Basic commercial knowledge and project management skills.
  • Effective communication and operational excellence skills.
