Core Responsibilities
- Set up machining fixtures, tooling and inserts for turning, grinding or milling.
- Measure, mark and scribe dimensional and reference points on materials.
- Determine datum for locating parts not previously in production.
- Align fixtures and cutting tools.
- Set specified rotation speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
- Machine part while monitoring cutting action of machine to detect excessive wear or malfunction.
- Perform pressure testing as required.
- Use indicators, calipers, venires, micrometers and gauges to check work and verify conformance of finished part to specifications.
- Request on-machine inspections as required.
- Perform TPM’S.
- Report nonconformance’s related to parts, paper work, equipment, tooling or materials to the immediate Cell Leader.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices on machines and in work area.
Qualifications:
- At least 1 – 3 years’ machining experience in Aerospace environment
- NITEC / Higher NITEC / Technical Certificate in Mechanical / Precision Engineering or equivalent
- Able to perform basic shop math, read, write, and interpret English.
- Basic mechanical skills, effectively utilize lifting devices, ability to interpret travelers and work instructions, ability to verify log and procedures for accuracy.
