Job summary

fpt asia pacific pte. ltd. is seeking a GIS Business Analyst / Product Manager to bridge geospatial tech and business needs, working with stakeholders, data teams, and developers to define and deliver GIS-enabled products that support decision making across the organisation.

You will gather requirements, manage backlogs, conduct user research and usability testing, and drive adoption through training and documentation, using ArcGIS, QGIS, or MapboxGL with agile teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Geography, Urban Planning, CS, information systems or related field with 3–5 years GIS/business analysis or product management.
• Hands-on GIS platform experience (ArcGIS, QGIS, MapboxGL) and familiarity with spatial SQL, Python or web mapping.
• Strong communication, facilitation and ability to work across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience in an agile product environment and with Jira/Confluence.

Job description

We are looking for a GIS Business Analyst / Product Manager to bridge the gap between geospatial technology and business needs. You will work closely with stakeholders, data teams, and developers to define, deliver, and continuously improve GIS-enabled products and solutions that support decision‑making across the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Gather and translate business requirements into clear product specifications and user stories for GIS applications and spatial data platforms, working with technical teams to design workflows, data models, and map‑based interfaces that meet user needs.
• Manage the product backlog, prioritise features, and ensure timely delivery of GIS solutions in an agile environment as the product owner.
• Conduct user research, stakeholder interviews, and usability testing to inform product direction and validate design decisions.
• Analyse spatial datasets to surface insights, identify trends, and support evidence‑based planning, using tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms, and collaborating with data engineers on ETL pipelines and spatial databases.
• Drive adoption by developing training materials, documentation, and change management plans to help users get the most out of GIS tools.

What We're Looking For

• Degree in Geography, Urban Planning, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, with at least three to five years of experience in GIS, business analysis, or product management.
• Hands‑on experience with GIS platforms (e.g. Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, MapboxGL) is essential, and familiarity with spatial SQL, Python, or web mapping technologies is a strong advantage.
• Comfortable working across both technical and non‑technical audiences, with strong communication and facilitation skills.
• Experience in an agile product environment and familiarity with tools like Jira or Confluence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant certifications in GIS or geospatial technologies, such as Esri Technical Certifications (e.g. ArcGIS Desktop, Enterprise, or Developer), SSSI or similar surveying and spatial science credentials, or cloud platform certifications relevant to GIS deployments (e.g. AWS).
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring practices for web‑based GIS applications, including experience with application performance monitoring tools.
• Understanding of data governance frameworks, spatial data standards (e.g. OGC standards, ISO 19100 series), or experience with policy and compliance automation in a geospatial context.
• A background in software development or systems integration, with an appreciation for secure coding practices and how they apply to geospatial platforms.
