Job summary

Surbana Jurong Group is seeking a Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Engineer to assist the Building Manager in ensuring smooth operation and maintenance of all M&E systems within the building.

You will support M&E projects from planning to execution, manage contractor performance, quotations, reporting, and ensure timely resolution of defects and issues.

Qualifications

• Ideally a Diploma in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering with about 10–15 years of relevant experience.
• NITEC holder with more years of relevant engineering expertise will be considered.
• M&E Degree holders with at least 5 years of relevant work experience may also apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist Building Manager to ensure smooth operations and other tasks.
• Serve as first point of contact for all M&E matters in the building.
• Oversee all hard services (M&E) as specified in the contract.
• Monitor and optimise energy consumption to reduce costs and carbon footprint.
• Implement energy-saving solutions like smart building tech and renewables.
• Plan, supervise installation/refurbishment/replacement of M&E systems.
• Provide system performance expertise and lifecycle management guidance.
• Coordinate with tenants, contractors, and stakeholders to maintain reliability.
• Support M&E projects through planning, coordination, and on-site oversight.
• Resolve technical issues and follow up on monthly hard services reports.

SMM is the Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) arm of Surbana Jurong Group (SJ Group). We provide IFM services, including mechanical and electrical system management, and we are involved in creating sustainable built environments.

Our exclusive client based in Paya Lebar is seeking a Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Engineer to assist the Building Manager in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of all M&E systems within the building.

You will support M&E related projects from planning and technical evaluation to execution, while managing contractor performance, quotations, reporting, and ensuring timely resolution of defects and operational issues.

Key responsibilities:

• Assists Building Manager to ensure smooth operations and any other assigned tasks.
• Serves as the first point of contact for all M&E matters in the building.
• Oversees all hard services (M&E) as specified in the contract
• Monitor and optimise energy consumptions to reduce costs and carbon footprint, aligning with GreenGov 2030 annual targets.
• Implement energy-saving solutions like smart building technologies and renewal energy integration.
• Plan, supervise the installation, refurbishment, or replacement of M&E systems or other ongoing projects.
• Provide expertise on system performance, enhance preventative maintenance, enable informed decision making, improve service response time, support long-term asset resilience and sustainability, provide lifecycle management, and uphold operational best practices.
• Provide accurate condition assessments, timely technical advice, and close coordination with tenants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to maintain operational reliability.
• Support M&E related projects through assisting in technical evaluation, planning, coordination, and on-site oversight, ensuring successful execution with minimal disruption.
• Solve technical issues.
• Follow up with the monthly report submission for hard services related work.
• Follow up with quotation on the repair work for any M&E related defects.

Key requirements:

• Ideally, Diploma holder in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent with about 10-15 years of relevant experience.
• However, NITEC holder with more years of relevant Engineering expertise will be considered.
• M&E Degree holders with at least 5 years of relevant work experience may also apply.
