Job description

What the role is:

LEGAL COUNSEL, DISPUTES RESOLUTION

What you will be working on:

The Legal, Disputes Resolution Division (LDR) (“Division”) provides legal services to various LTA divisions on all dispute related matters. These include commercial disputes in areas such as contracts, IT infrastructure, construction, insolvency, and tort law.

As a member of the Division, you will be part of a team working on contentious matters of national and public interest to deliver commercially workable solutions. You will work closely with LTA’s policy and operations divisions to provide advice on a wide range of regulatory, legal and operational issues relating to claims by or against LTA arising from time to time. Given LTA’s role as a regulator and infrastructure developer in land transport, you will be challenged to be commercially sound in anticipating and addressing contentious matters in these areas from a legal perspective.

You will be required to:

• research, prepare and render legal advice on LTA’s legal risks, rights, and obligations.

• draft contracts (including settlement agreements) and other legal documents.

• assist in investigating matters that are reported to LTA as claims or circumstances that may give rise to a claim.

• advise on steps to minimise or mitigate LTA’s potential for liability.

• instruct and coordinate with external lawyers on dispute resolution matters.

• develop house views and conduct legal and risk management training to LTA divisions on how to mitigate legal, regulatory, and reputational risks. • provide regular case reports for management


What we are looking for:

• Tertiary qualification in Law (LLB)

• Qualified Person under the Legal Profession Act or called to the Singapore Bar

• Pro-active, solution and service-oriented mind set • Positive attitude, self-motivated, willing to learn, collaborative and a team player

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

• Good communication, drafting and interpersonal skills

• Prior experience in general disputes practice or construction disputes practice is a plus.
