Job summary

SMART INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS PRIVATE LIMITED is seeking a High-performance Low Latency Trading Application Developer to join the Electronic Trading Technology team. The role focuses on building scalable, low-latency equity trading systems and requires strong Python/Java skills and deep knowledge of equity trading dynamics.

You will collaborate with global teams, participate in the full software lifecycle, and provide production support for mission-critical trading applications.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in Python or Java development.
• Designing and developing distributed electronic trading systems, preferably in Equity.
• In-depth understanding of Equity electronic trading, including market microstructure, order flow, matching rules, ECN interactions.
• Strong expertise in multithreading, concurrency, and performance optimization.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
• Experience with messaging middleware (e.g., JMS, Kafka, or similar technologies).
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or XP, and CI practices.
• Scripting experience in Shell, Python, Perl, Ruby.
• Experience working on front-office trading systems.

The incumbent will join the Electronic Trading Technology team, focusing on Equity trading systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in building high-performance, low-latency trading applications and a deep understanding of Equity market microstructure and electronic trading platforms.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong hands-on experience in Python or Java development
• Proven experience in designing and developing distributed electronic trading systems, preferably in Equity.
• In-depth understanding of Equity electronic trading, including: Market microstructure, Order flow and lifecycle, Matching rules, ECN interactions
• Strong expertise in multithreading, concurrency, and performance optimization.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
• Experience with messaging middleware (e.g., JMS, Kafka, or similar technologies).
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or XP, and continuous integration practices.
• Scripting experience in one or more languages (Shell, Python, Perl, Ruby).
• Experience working on front-office trading systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Business domain knowledge in Equity and/or Equity Derivatives.
• Prior experience in the electronic trading domain within investment banks or financial institutions.
• Exposure to low-latency systems and high-frequency trading environments.
